Little Pretty Things
Over the holidays, I learned about a freshly-minted entrepreneur named Claire Hunsaker. She launched LittlePretty, her online boutique for independent jewelry design, just before Thanksgiving after leaving a job as a management consultant. Claire is not a designer herself, but she knew exactly what she wanted from the designers featured in the boutique. All of the jewelry (priced from $50 to $250) is handmade by the designers in their own home, store or workshop - each with a unique story or source of inspiration. Victoria Strevens (Moon necklace $85.00) draws some of the inspiration for her designs from the architecture in New York City.
Beth Sosin is an Emmy-award winning producer with a passion for metalsmithing. She includes recycled discarded objects and semi-precious stones in her work.
Dimension Earrings $60.00. Gold Bubbles $80.00.
Susan Wong, the designer behind Castaway, is a self-taught artist whose work is inspired by old world artisans and tribal jewelers who "created great works with their bare hands and minimal tools."
Birds Nest Crystal Earrings $84.00. Guava Necklace $90.00.
Born in Yugoslavia, Gorjana is a former model that started designing jewelry for her collection in between shoots.

Oooooooooooh...now those are YUMMY!
