Brooklyn? Yes, Brooklyn is in the house tonight folks!
New York Fashion Week starts Friday, but tonight, I will join thousands of other fashion revelers on the Brooklyn Bridge to kick off Brooklyn Fashion Week where brand spanking new indie designers hit the catwalk - on the Brooklyn Bridge!
My Web Snob buddy Daniel Saynt Santiago, his partner (and my good buddy) Busie Matsiko and their team at Fashion Indie are throwing the party. Some of the designers featured are:
Zulema -
Yes, Zulema Griffin from Project Runway! She began her career as a
Ford model and went on to appear in the pages of Harper's Bazaar and
Essence before making the switch from modeling clothes to designing
them.
San and Soni - Sonali and Inderieet Singh are the husband and wife designers behind this label. San & Soni
represents their nicknames; San for Inderjeet and Soni for Sonali and their collection was features upper-end contemporary sportswear.
Sheila Frank - Formerly an intern for Charlotte Ronson, Sheila's collection was inspired by her love of design of past eras. She says that she is "interested in all shapes and sizes
and believes that all woman deserve to look and feel stylish."
Harriet's Alter Ego - Owned by Hekima Hapa and Ngozi Odita, Harriet's Alter Ego features eclectic clothes and accessories against the backdrop of the brick walls of this Flathbush Avenue boutique.
Alisha Trimble - Her Spring/Summer 09 collection is called "Love Forever. Inspired by performance artists, the collection "explores love and intimacy in her private
life, thereby creating a story where menswear inhabits women’s wear in
a personal and unique way."
If you are here in New York, stop by!
