After posting this Fashion Fair ad with Diahann Carroll within my tribute to Eunice W. Johnson, the late founder of the Ebony Fashion Fair shows and Fashion Fair Cosmetics, I was inspired to post even more vintage Fashion Fair ads featuring celebrities from the 1970s. This particular campaign featured celebrities and even a few "regular" women with the tagline "I'm just..." I understand not bragging to an extent, but the idea of opera Diva (real divas get a capital "d") Leontyne Price talking about "I'm just a girl from Laurel, Mississippi" and "I never would have left the church choir" strikes me as pretty laughable today. However, Fashion Fair Cosmetics did indeed have some great ads.
This wasn't the Aretha Franklin ad I had in mind (I know there is one with her wearing an afro somewhere in my collection) but check her out!
Does anyone else remember hoping to grow up looking exactly like Judy Pace?
Remember the "I've Got Love On My Mind" Natalie Cole?! Love it!
Opera legend Leontyne Price once said, "I totally and completely admit, with no qualms at all, my egomania, my selfishness, coupled with a really magnificent voice." I like that quote better.
