Although I covered backstage makeup and hair, I missed the actual Ports 1961 show during fashion week. Therefore, I was very happy to be invited to the showroom to get a preview of the collection that will be in stores in the fall. Designed by Tia Cibani, the collection is a balanced mix of sleek, structured classics from simple sheaths to edgy but not over-the-top accessories like bold, eclectic necklaces and chunky heels.

Naeem Khan's Fall 2010 collection was one of the highlights of New York's Fall Fashion Week for me. His Spring 2010 collection was amazing and his Fall 2010 collection was even better. Of course, I planned to have this video up a few days later but, after more than a few glitches with editing my videos thanks to computer issues (I won't bore you with the details), I just gave up on it until my patience returned. Well, it's back! Sort of...

I really enjoyed meeting and chatting with Pauletta Washington before the show.
It was also great to see the Wall Street Journal's Teri Agins, stylist extraordinaire June Ambrose and eBay Style Director, Constance White.
I am so far behind, I don't know where to begin - but I'm going anyway.
I will start out with my good friend, novelist, Cozbi devotee and Slanket enthusiast Tayari Jones. I am so happy to hear that her amazing debut novel, Leaving Atlanta, is being made into a movie! Leaving Atlanta follows three kids in 1979 who are coming of age at the time of the horrific child murders. Aletha Spann is the filmmaker behind the project.
Speaking of Tayari, she and I both are wildly in love with Girls Write Now, a mentoring program for at-risk girls in New York City public high schools who are interesting in writing. Girls Write Now was recently honored with the 2009 Coming Up Taller Award from the President's Committee on the Arts and the Humanities, presented by none other than First Lady Michelle Obama. I am a brand new Advisory Board member and Tayari is Vice Chair of the Board of Directors.
