Sisters are kicking much ass these days! 

My friend Monica Mingo just premiered her debut film, a short called sisters. at the American Black Film Festival in Miami. Click right to here to watch a teaser for the film.   Next stop: the Martha's Vineyard African American Film Festival, where sisters. is a finalist in the Saatchi & Saatchi "Nothing is Impossible" contest.  Her next short is called Marco Polo.  Did I mention she can cook? I have one word for you: Gumbo!

My friend Patrice Grell Yursik, better known as Afrobella, recently gave her site a makeover and debuted Afrobella radio.  It airs every Thursday at 11am EST.

One of my best friends, Tayari Jones, the Cozbi-loving slanket-devotee just finished her third novel, The Silver Girl.  Her debut novel, Leaving Atlanta, is being made into a film.  Did I mention she can cook too? And makes a mean Lemon Ginger Martini?
