Backstage Beauty: Platinum & Violet Eyes by MAC at Erin by Erin Fetherston

 

To coincide with the colors in the collection, MAC added metallic and purple paint to the models' lids. Since the eyes were so bold the cheeks and lips were minimal using a light pink.

MAC Paints in metallic and purple were used on the eyes to give a dramatic look. You can duplicate these colors by using MAC Pigment in Platinum and Violet.

As often seen the metallic shadow was applied on the eyelid as well as  toward to inside corners eye.

 

The purple shadow was used in the crease as well as underneath the eye to give a dramatic smokey effect.

Velvet, Chiffon & Wide-Leg Trousers: NAHM Fall 2012

 

Upon arrival to the presentation the room was buzzing while live piano music (played by Aku Orraca-Tetteh) echoed throughout the room. Color palettes of deep reds, plums, salmon, navy and heather grays were used throught out the collection. As I made my way to the front stage I noticed the color palette in the collection matched the backdrop of the stage.

NAHM duo Nary Manivong and Alexandra Hilfiger (yes daughter to Tommy) created designs that included boxy dresses, wide-leg pants, velvet dresses and and lots of patterns including Egyptian prints. NAHM used fabrics in chiffon, crepe, velvet and silk to created these staple pieces.

Not sure how to wear this but this chiffon loop blouse was interesting.

Cream crepe pleated shirtdress over cream silk Egptian blouse. This dress is an example of how NAHM went with dresses that had a boxy shape.

Floral and Egyptian patterns were a big focus in the collection.

The platform shoes in the collection co-created with Loeffler Randall sampled the wallpaper with mirrored bottoms were created especially for the collection.

 

Backstage: Make up Nails and hair: Pamela Love Spring 2012

 

MAC's Pro Team, lead by Gina Crozier,  off the "Moroccan woman" theme of Pamela Love's Spring 2012 collection with warm red tones on top and bottom of the eyes. The eyes were set with a deep red on the top and bottom lid using MAC's eye kohl in Costa Riche and eye shadow in Embark on the eyelid and Antiqued on the crease and lastly, Folie on the lower lash line. False individual lashes #30 were applied and finished off with False Lashes Mascara.

On the face, Face and Body Foundation was added followed by Prep + Primer Transparent Finishing Powder and Cremeblend Blush in Brit Wit was added to the cheeks. 

To complete the look, Faithfully Yours was used on the lips and then finished off with a vertical stripe of eye liner in Rapid Black down the middle of the bottom lip to give the look that final tribal touch (shown in final look picture below).

MAC pro team workes their magic 

Hair was created by Anthony Cole for Sebastian Professional. The look started with a single pony tail which was then styled in a fishtail braid. Small pieces were left slightly around the face that slightly showed through under the headscarves and Stetson hats.

May I just  add Mr. Anthony Cole is one sexy stylist. He made braiding hair look sexy and that isn’t easy.

Essie lead manicurist, Elle Gerstein played off grafic elements of the collection by applying a base pink color in Topless & Barefoot to the nail then applied a dark brown in Little Brown Dress on top in diagonal strokes letting a triangle hint of the pink peek show at the base of the nail.

Pamela Love Spring 2012

 

I love bold jewelry so I  was excited to get the chance to see Pamela Love's Collection live and up close. Pamela Love’s Spring 2012 collection was influenced by symbolic styles from nomadic North African Berber tribes and details of Moroccan architecture and tile work.

The bold statement pieces included long bracelets, large breast plates, and bright colored stones rings madeof malachite, red jasper, lapis turquoise, chrysophase and amethyst. Other new materials included black diamonds and wood.

To complete the look Love also designed and crafted the clothing and leather belts for presentation.
