Oscars 2009 Red Carpet... Black and Gold

Viola Davis, Halle Berry, Diane Lane and Beyonce Knowles.

Viola Davis is golden in Reem Acra, Fred Leighton jewelry and a clutch by Judith Leiber.

Diane Lane kept it simple in Dolce & Gabbana. 

Beyonce Knowles in House of Dereon.  She wore a yellow-gold diamond leaf Lorraine Schwartz ring, but I would have liked to have seen her in earrings and a necklace.

Halle Berry is untouchable in black and gold beaded Marchesa and H. Stern jewelry.

Oscars 2009 Red Carpet... Silver, White, Champagne and Beige

Marisa Tomei, Taraji P. Henson, Jada Pinkett Smith, Evan Rachel Wood, Penelope Cruz and Sarah Jessica Parker.

Taraji P. Henson is just lovely in this Roberto Cavalli and the red clutch by Mary Norton was a nice touch.  I think Taraji would be a great choice to play Eartha Kitt in a bio pic.  You heard it here first.


Penelope Cruz.  I loved her 60-year-old vintage Balmain gown and her Judith Leiber clutch.


Sarah Jessica Parker, in Dior Haute Couture and Fred Leighton jewelry, looking good.



Marisa Tomei looked so nice in this pleated Atelier Versace. Her jewelry was by Van Cleef & Arpels.


Evan Rachel Wood looks great in Elie Saab Couture and Neil Lane jewelry.


Jada Pinkett Smith in Roberto Cavalli and beautiful braids.

Anne Hathaway, Jennifer Aniston, Tina Fey and Leslie Mann.

Anne Hathaway in one of my favorite gowns of the night, a jewel-encrusted champagne silk gown by Armani Prive.  Her jewelry is vintage Cartier.

Jennifer Aniston in a glittering Valentino Haute Couture gown.  

 

Leslie Mann really shines in this Pamella Roland.


Tina Fey looking better than ever in silver Zac Posen and Fred Leighton jewelry. 

Oscars 2009 Red Carpet... Blues, Grey and (some) Black

Kate Winslet, Marion Cotillard, Freida Pinto and Queen Latifah.

Kate Winslet in Chopard jewelry and a gown and shoes by Yves Saint Laurent that I hated initially, but it grew on me as I saw more pictures. 

Marion Cotillard in Dior Haute Couture and Chopard jewelry look wonderful. 

Freida Pinto, in a cobalt blue John Galliano, carried a Judith Leiber clutch.  Some people didn't care for the lacy sleeve, but I liked it just fine.

Queen Latifah pulls off the navy Georges Chakra gown well.

Oscars 2009 Red Carpet... Fuschia (or Lavender?) and Yellow

On my television, it appeared as if both Natalie Portman and Alicia Keys were both in fuschia, but some reports called Natalie's gown "pale lavender."  Either way, they both wore two of my favorite looks of the evening.

Natalie Portman in a fuschia or pale lavender Rodarte gown with diamonds by Kwiat. 


Alicia Keys in Armani Prive and Fred Leighton jewelry.  Her shoes are by Jimmy Choo   and she is carrying a clutch by Zufi Alexander.

Oscars 2009 Red Carpet... Red Hot Numbers

 
Slumdog Millionaire swept; I mistook Ben Stiller for the real (fake) JoaquinPhoenix and was appalled that the late Eartha Kitt was not mentioned in the memorial montage, but overall I enjoyed the 81st annual Academy Awards. 


Heidi Klum in sculpted crimson Roland Mouret gown ... and lots of bracelets.  I like her red satin d’orsay pumps by Christian Louboutin pumps the best.

 
Virginia Madsen looking good in a fiery Kevan Hall with Loree Rodkin jewelry and a clutch by Katherine Baumann.



Amanda Seyfried was in Valentino Haute Couture, Fred Leighton jewels and carried a KOTUR Silver Basket Weave Creel minaudiere.  The bow annoyed me initially, but it grew on me as the night went on.


Amy Adams in Carolina Herrera, Fred Leighton jewels and a VBH clutch tucked under her arm.  I still love the emerald Proenza Schouler she wore last year, but the red works for her too.
