Does it help that Oprah and Halle are fans of skin, a luxury line of soft, impossibly cozy lounge wear that is sold in top-of-the-line stores like Barneys and Neiman Marcus?
Well, not really. Because I wear skin myself. I have the Chantilly lace boy shorts in the picture below along with two other two tops and I am about to invest in some pants and a few more key pieces.
skin's creator Susan Beischel greeted me in this caftan (in white) in her midtown showroom and, as she guided me through her collection, she explained how skin can take you comfortably through your entire day without fanfare. You may be like me, constantly working on your computer, often at home, all day. Even at home, you may not want to feel and look like a schlep - especially if you end up going out in public before the day is out. And, if you do make it out, you may not want to go through the whole production of really getting dressed because it will take enough energy getting your hair and makeup together, right? Right! So, what if you were already sort of dressed?Individually or layered piece by piece, skin can take you anywhere from an impromptu dinner with friends to simply picking up your kids from school without the oh my goodness I only have five minutes what am I going to wear? stress. Beautifully.
