Happy Martin Luther King Day!
I don't have anything new or different to say about The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King today (you know, just like everyone else in the world). Instead, I will just pay tribute to Dr. King today by linking some of my past posts on Dr. King and a few other interesting links and pictures.
Dr. and Mrs. King marching in Mississippi, 1966. The top photo is of the Kings voting in 1964.
Dr. King with his wife and mother in 1958 at Harlem Hospital. He was recovering after being stabbed by a crazed woman.
A King's Treasure at Sotheby's - In June 2006, I had the pleasure of viewing the extensive Martin Luther King Jr. Collection at Sotheby's in Manhattan. The collection narrowly avoided an auction and will now be housed at Dr. King's alma mater Morehouse College.
A Memorial Fit for a King - The Martin Luther King, Jr. National Memorial will open in 2008 just steps from where Dr. King gave his "I Have a Dream" speech. The photos above and in the post are from the November 2006 groundbreaking ceremony.
The photos below are from Coretta Couture, a 55 Secret Street post from 2007 marking the one year anniversary of Mrs. Coretta Scott King's death. In case you haven't seen it, this is a pdf of her funeral program.
