Michelle Obama's recent comments about skipping makeup are not exactly Hillary Cleavage-gate, but she has opened the door for me to speculate on her beauty routine.
Here is the quote, from Mary Mitchell's Chicago Sun-Times column:
"I love girly makeup and stuff, but my view is that's a lot of work," she said, explaining her decision to routinely skip the makeup chair.
"I want people to get used to my face more naturally so that I don't have to do that every day. Who's got time to put eyelashes on and all that?"
Fair enough. They haven't made the working woman (with children no less) who has time to "put on eyelashes and all that." But it's also very easy to skip makeup when you have nice, clear skin like 43-year-old Michelle Obama.
In my current skincare regimen, I alternate between two products I recently raved about Biore's Blemish Fighting Ice Cleanser and Mario Badescu Enzyme Cleansing Gel
followed by Cetaphil Daily Facial Moisturizer with SPF 15. Keeping my hands off of my face helps (old habits die hard) along with eating better and exercising.
And, I've got to say, it doesn't hurt to be black! My grandmother turned 79 recently - not a wrinkle in sight.
When my skin is relatively clear like it is now, I can get away with a dab of foundation on a dark spot here or there along with a healthy dose of lip gloss and call it a day. That is my "no-makeup" look.
As for the potential future first lady, I can't imagine she's going before the cameras without at least a dab of lip gloss - and maybe a touch of concealer? If she does, she's a better woman that I am. And God help her in states where there is unrelenting humidity which brings me to her hair. That's got to be a pain on the campaign trail. It can be a pain just going to the office everyday!
Anyway, which look do you prefer on Michelle Obama?
Au Natural
or
All Out Glamour?
I love how real she is.I think she looks almost the same natural or made up. It shows that she doesn't go overboard with the make-up. I also use Biore's face wash but their Shine Control Cleanser. Great stuff.
